Nice and bright, and her candle doesn’t go out when you put the lid on (cause lots of air can get in)

I could have carved everything a bit deeper to make it light up better, but I’m pretty happy with this for a first-ever pumpkin carving!

Preview

I would hold it up under a light above my stove to get a preview of how the light was working. This was originally where I was going to stop.

Carving In Action

I was originally going to carve outlines only, but then realized I needed to shave the skin off to get things to light up properly, so had to keep going.

Template Lines

Here’s what it looked like after I traced, then took off the template.

Mr. Triangle Eyes

Robin opted for a more traditional one, with cut out eyes, mouth etc. She also added ears which were pretty fancy.

Template

I decided to carve the guy from Pan’s Labyrinth who has his eyes in his hands. I drew something out first, then taped it to the pumpkin and went over the important lines poking a blade into the pumpkin so that I had something resembling a perforated line where I needed to carve things.
