Finally found a way to stop get_posts/WP_Query from clobbering the main query for the page. Now to fix broken stats because of it 🙁

Plesk DNS Management = EPIC FAIL.
Plesk = even more painful for anything more than simple hosting.
Apparently wp_reset_query() doesn't get you completely back to where you were with WordPress custom queries. $id, $authordata etc change.
Thanks for the DNS tip @jcsalterego – trying them out now.
Comcast's DNS propagation is soooo slow. FAIL.
